Scott Esterly lives in the Detroit-Shoreway neighborhood with his wife (Emily) and their dog (Scruffy). After graduating Westlake High School, Scott completed an Associate’s Degree at Tri-C and a Bachelor’s Degree in political science at Cleveland State University. He finished his Master’s Degree in applied politics from the University of Akron while working in various capacities at the Statehouse in Columbus. He spent four years in Columbus and returned to Cleveland in January 2012 to become the Director of Governmental & Community Affairs for the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) of Greater Cleveland.
Scott loved his time in up-and-coming downtown Columbus and still cheers for the Buckeyes, but Cleveland is his favorite city to live and work in. He especially missed heading to the ballpark to root for the Tribe. Since January 2012 Scott has become active in Cleveland’s citadel of free speech, The City Club. You will see him at many of the Friday lunch forums. Growing up, Scott was a major film buff and living a short walking distance away from the Capitol Theater on W 65th is not an accident. Before showings Scott can frequently be seen eating a vegan hot dog at Happy Dog. He is not what one might call a strict vegan, however…he likes his vegan dog with bacon and a fried egg on top. Scott is also a champion of the many other dining experiences at all the Detroit-Shoreway hotspots, like Spice, XYZ, Parkview Nite Club, and Luxe.
Scott, Emily, and Scruffy like to take walks around their neighborhood and frequently visit with Emily’s parents (whom live downtown). They always have Scruffy with them for their downtown visits because she enjoys chasing the squirrels when they walk by the old Board of Education building on E 6th.
